A freespool reel allows you to regulate the drag between the drag at the start and the drag required during combat. You can move between one and the other very quickly by making the first crank turn. You are therefore able to anticipate by regulating the drag rate for combat before the carp sets off.
The line retrieve per crank of a reel corresponds to the average length (in centimetres) of line picked up with every turn of the handle. The ratio of a reel corresponds to the number of times the spool turns with every turn of the handle. Example: For a ratio of 5.0:1, the spool spins 5.0 times per crank
This exclusive concept (ATR: Anti Tangle Ring) located under the spool limits the risk of the line going underneath the spool during retrieval.
