Dust the surface beforehand using a brush to obtain a clean and dry surface. Apply the soap with a damp cloth or sponge. Rinse with clear water and allow to air dry. For smooth leather shoes (but not nubuck), you can enhance the maintenance process by applying a leather grease. This nourishes the leather, keeps it supple and protects it from the rain and snow.
