Deterioration of rope ends is no longer an issue thanks to this new ultrasound fusion process.
All of our ropes are designed and tested at our headquarters in Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc valley. They are made in the North of France, in our partner factory Cousin, specialised in cords for the last 170 years.
This rope has the UIAA Water Repellent label A brief summary of test: - A rope sample is subjected to light abrasion over its entire surface, the equivalent to a few days’ use. - It is soaked for 15 minutes. - The amount of absorbed water must not be greater than 5% of the sample’s weight. The SIMOND DRY ropes easily meet UIAA requirements The rope’s mechanical features are last longer in cold and wet conditions.
It is important to check your rope regularly. To do so, run the rope through your hands and inspect it metre by metre along its entire length. This will allow you to spot any nicks, cuts, abrasion or weak points. If you notice any anomalies or irregularities, if the core is visible in certain places, if the rope is deformed or has exceeded its fall rating, it must be changed. Take safety seriously!
EN 892 certified rope UIAA 101 certified rope
Our designers have chosen to colour the threads of the sheath using “Dope dye” technology (the threads in the core are not dyed). This technology adds colour pigments as early as the manufacturing stage, before the strands are braided. This method stands out from traditional dyeing techniques by reducing the amount of water needed and the amount of waste water discharged from the dyeing baths.
The weight is 37 g/m. The weight is measured according to the EN 892 standard. For a single rope, the rope must be exposed to 10 kg of tension for 1 minute in very precise temperature and moisture conditions. This gives you the real weight of the rope, which is often superior to the weight given by the standard. But the standard allows us to compare ropes objectively.
To improve your safety, this rope features a black mark which indicates the middle of the rope. We recommend always checking the length of the route before climbing as well as tying a knot at the end of the rope.
They are measured and validated in the laboratory by a certification body in accordance with standard EN 892: Number of falls: 5 (double)/12 (twib) Impact force: 5.7 kN (double)/9.1 kN (twin) Percentage of sheath: 40.5% Dynamic elongation: 30.4% (double)/27.9% (twin) Static elongation: 11.4% (double)/6.6% (twin) Sheath slippage: 0 mm
