The PANT 500 PAD trousers are highly waterproof (15,000mm Schmerbers) and have been tested in real-life conditions. The waterproof component and the assembly prevent water from entering, with taped seams and zips that are either waterproof or covered by a protective flap. This jacket has been tested in a special shower that reproduces the conditions of the ski resorts, and in the field for several days in different weather conditions.
The PANT 500 trousers are water-repellent, like all Quechua ski and snowboard trousers. A fabric's water-repellent property is its ability to let water slide off its surface without soaking in. The fabric doesn’t soak up water and so remains lightweight, breathable and warm. It is made from a treatment on the outside of the fabric, which must be renewed (every 3 washes).
With 60g/sqm wadding, these trousers will keep you warm down to -8°C during moderate activity. The lower leg gaiters prevent air – and therefore cold – from getting in.
The RET, or the evaporative resistance of the material (ISO 11092 standard), is 12. The lower this rating, the more water vapour generated by the body evaporates. RET < 9 = extremely breathable 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable 12 < RET < 20 = breathable RET > 20 = little or no breathability.
Beyond the warranty period (2 years), your product will still be repairable (seams, zips, etc.). During the warranty period, we will carry out repairs free of charge. These solutions are available at your nearest store.

You don't need to wear anything under these padded trousers. However, in very cold weather, you can wear a breathable thermal base layer (known as a layer 1).
The water repellency of your trousers should be reactivated regularly (every 3 washes): over time, even though they remain waterproof thanks to the component, they seem to start absorbing water. To do this, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product, and follow the tutorial in the customer service section of our website.
Close the zips, loosen the ties and read the instructions on the label. You can use a tumble dryer or leave to air dry, and finish off by using the hair dryer for five minutes (the heat helps with waterproofing). Find tutorials on our YouTube channel or our after-sales service website.
