ICE trousers have been approved in a shower test under 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy mountain downpour.
We measure a fabric's resistance to a water column, in mm (now based on the JIS 1092 B standard). The higher the water pressure resistance, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm can withstand up to 20,000 mm of water pressure (which is roughly equivalent to a rain shower lasting 3 hours). With waterproofing greater than 10,000 mm, these trousers offer a very high level of waterproofing.
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporate resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more moisture, generated by an active body, is evaporated, and therefore the higher the fabric's breathability.
We consider that if:
- RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric
- 9
It is not recommended to wash waterproof products too frequently because each wash reduces its waterproof properties. - Before putting the jacket in the washing machine, fasten all zips, press studs, rip tabs and pockets. Loosen any straps and elasticated parts. - Carefully follow the instructions on the jacket's care label (30°C) - Use liquid detergent for waterproof clothing - Do not use fabric conditioner - Allow the product to air dry
If your jacket is no longer water repellent after several washes and uses, you can reactivate its water repellency using a liquid sold in store https://www.decathlon.fr/p/liquide-reimpermeabilisant-textile-250-ml/_/R-p-308192?mc=8554908
