We designed this jacket with a comfortable fit so that it can be worn with a warm second layer such as a fleece. Its short jacket style is ideal for protecting you from the cold during your winter hikes in town or in the mountains.
To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer principle: layer 1: The high-tech base layer transfers moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry. layer 2: The second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and transfers moisture outwards. layer 3: The jacket protects you from the outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind. The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.
We developed your jacket for wintry conditions: cold, rain and snow. Insulation provided by the wadding: 200g/sqm for the body and 150g/sqm for the arms. The lined hood also keeps your head well protected and warm. The elastic cuffs on the jacket hem and sleeves are the finishing touch to ensure your jacket is comfortable.
The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerbers or mm H2O (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 12,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing.
Practical and smart details: 2 handwarmer pockets, 4 secure outer pockets, 1 secure inner pocket, 1 mesh inner pocket to keep your belongings close at hand. The main zip has a long zip puller. It has double sliders to ventilate your jacket when worn. Its warm hood is detachable as needed.
A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.
